Resource Management

The first place you will come to when playing is the resource management screen. From here you can review your band in detail, buy new equipment and hire new characters. Most importantly, this screen includes the list of missions available at the Guild, allowing you to choose your fate. You can also review information about the world of Mythica, and give life to your party by customizing the names.

Resource Management Screen

Resource Management

The Resource Management Screen lists your current gold and fame in the middle right of the screen. These are the two most important statistics for your party, so be aware of them at all times. There are several different areas on the Resource Management Screen where you can do different things. If you are using a keyboard, the section which is active will be highlighted with a red box surrounding the area, please be aware of this at all times. To switch between sections press Tab or Escape. If you are using a mouse, simply move the mouse over the section of the screen you want to interact with. The game starts with the "Mission Selection" area selected.

Mission Selection

The Mission Selection area is located along the bottom of the screen. It contains a brief description of the different jobs being offered by various employers. Use the arrow keys to highlight the mission that you wish to accept. You can also click on any mission description to select it. The mission which is in white is the mission you will play when you continue. The easiest way to continue is to simply hit Enter while the Mission Selection Screen is the active area (denoted by the red box), you will automatically be sent on the selected mission. The other option is to click on the Continue button, which is located above the Gold and Fame displays. You can either hit Tab/Escape until you have highlighted continue in red and then hit Enter or simply move your mouse over the Continue button and click.

Before actually choosing a mission, there are several things of which you should be aware. There are different "price ranges" for the different kinds of missions which are offered. When starting out, you should stay away from missions offering more than about 50 gold. Your employers will trust your word in accepting any mission, so no one will stop you from sailing into certain doom!! Another important feature is where the mission will take place. You may want to head to the World Map section to read more about the world of Mythica and get an idea of what each area is like. Especially, be aware that the Dragon Mountains and Black Lands are considerably more viscous in the difficulty of navigating the terrain and the strength of the monsters you will encounter. Although they will often be worth slightly more gold and are worth more fame for successful missions, be very careful before you choose a mission there.

Information Bar

Located in the middle of the screen is the Information Bar, where we give you vital information about each part of the screen. No matter where you are, it is a good idea to look here to see what is currently selected.

Selected Character View

If you are looking through your characters (on the middle left of the screen), this bar will show you all the basic information. At the top of the bar is the name, which will help you identify your characters in battle. Underneath are the three base statistics. BLD stands for Blood, and represents how many hits your character can take. STR stands for Strength. This value represents the maximum weight of pieces of equipment the character can wear. Higher strengths also do additional damage in combat. Finally, the character's DEX is listed. This stands for Dexterity, and represents the characters ability to dodge and hit, as well as how far they can move.

Character Equipment

The currently selected character's equipment is shown in the upper right corner of the screen. If you move your mouse over them, the information bar will show the details of the equipment. Listed first is the weapon. Shown is the Name, Attack, Range, and Weight values of the weapon. Beneath it is the character's armor. Shown is the Name, Defense, and Weight values. The higher the Attack or Defense values, the better the piece of equipment will do in combat. Please notice that different weapons and armor often share the same picture, so it is a good idea to check out what you are actually carrying (they all have different names).

Purchasing Equipment

If you are looking at the different weapons and armor for sale, you will quickly learn that it is a good idea to look at the information bar. Listed are the names, cost in gold, attack/defence values, range for weapons and weights of the highlighted equipment. Please remember that a mercenary cannot hold a piece of equipment that weighs more than his/her strength.

Hiring Mercenaries

You will at some point want to add more mercenaries to your party. When you have highlighted any of the ones for higher (shown above the information bar in miniature). This will list the character's class, cost in gold as well as starting Blood, Strength and Dexterity values. Please remeber that a character's hiring cost directly affects their upkeep.
